FD... thought I would put them on the map with a Kiosk
info notice on UI-View. My Call in the in the UI-View
Callsign, the correct Lat and Long in their respective

You could have the default INFOKIOSK in there or something
else. There wouldn't be anything wrong with having the'
club call sign in there, but having (something)KIOSK
would alert knowledgeable users that it was an INFOKIOSK.
If it just had a callsign in there, it may not be
apparent.
and nothing in the kiosk text. (Mainly because I have no
Idea what I can or can't put in there.) Enabled Broadcast
is checked and Default path is WIDE1-1
Having nothing in the KIOSK text won't be very useful.
It should contain instructions like...
Msg ?INFO to $CALLSIGN for commands
The INFOKIOSK needs to announce itself so people know
about it. It would be useful for it to include instructions
like to send ?INFO to get a list of the objects that it
holds. I suppose if this was just being done for Field
Day, you could have something like...
MSG ?INFO for a list of Field Day stations
Fixed stations should never use WIDE1-1. Only mobile
stations should be using that. A better one hop path
would be WIDE2-1.
Per the read-me file, place INFOKIOSK.EXE in the UI-View
installation folder. Run it and then re-start UI-View.
Under Options, have Remote Commands enabled. Having your
call sign in there would be correct. Then go ahead and
enter all of the FD stations that you know about.
However, if you make them something like FD-VE7GDH, then
when someone sends an inquiry, it will send all of the
FD stations to the person that is asking. The "broadcast"
will tell other stations that your InfoKiosk exists.
For the objects, you could have e.g. FD-1, FD-2 etc.
and include the field day call signs in the accompanying
text, or instead of FD-1 you could have something like
FD-W8RID and include the callsign in the object name.
The beauty of this is a station making an inquiry could
send ?FD- and get a list of the Field Day stations.
What do I need to do or change to get this to work?
Probably all you need to do (other than changing from
the WIDE1-1 path) is come up with the names of the objects
for the Field Day stations. For use, I would probably
name the objects like FD- followed by the actual call
sign, or FD-1, FD-2, FD-3 etc. and have the callsign
in the second line.
I just sent ?INFO to W8RID and got an ACK, but it
doesn't look like I got anything back from the
INFOKIOSK. Do you have Remote Commands enabled in
UI-View?
