Hi All,
One or two suggestions for the next release of ui-view, how
about a 5th station symbol to denote bbs's? On a map that gets as
crowded as mine can do on occasion it makes them a lot easier to pick
out.
You can add your own generic symbols. If you read SYMBOLS.TXT, it
explains how to do it. I only put in a few because I didn't want to
appear to be copying the APRS symbol characters, but, on the other hand,
it seemed a bit pointless to be making up different ones for UI-View! I
think the APRS symbol character for a BBS is 'B'. So all you should need
to do is:-
(a) Add a line to SYMBOLS.TXT saying:-
B4,BBS
(b) Edit SYMBOLS.BMP in Paint, or whatever, increase the width to 100
pixels (it's currently 80) and draw yourself a suitable symbol for a BBS
in the extra 20 x 20 pixel box. Make sure you save it as 256 colours.
(c) Persuade BBS sysops to send out lat/long with a 'B' rather than a
'-' as the first character after the 'E' or 'W' in the longitude.
If the BBSs are sending locators, you can still get a BBS symbol if you
make yourself a BBS BMP, and put multiple copies of it in the
UI-VIEW\SYMBOLS directory, each named according to the name of a BBS
that you hear transmitting a locator. E.g. GB7AAA.BMP, GB7BBB.BMP, etc.
