British Organisation in Malaya 27
So the Lanchester and the Perry 8th Army arrived for me to start to build Malaya forces. I understand that Rich has been beavering away (when not distracted by Pike and Pilum) on a Far East Book for Chain of Command, so when I start to put together my platoon, is anyone aware if there is likely to be any different organisation from the one listed here? http://toofatlardies.co.uk/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/British-Far-East-19411.pdf B S L O R L T L T L F P H 2¡± M T B AT R T L F S O T LMG T R T - TooFatLardies THE RIFLE PLATOON The force outlined here is designed specifically for the first contact with the Japanese Empire in December 1941 in both Malaya and Hong Kong. toofatlardies.co.uk cheers Doug

Blending markers in with terrain 7
Now that we have the ability to share images I thought I'd take advantage and post these pictures of work I've done with some CoC markers to make them blend in more with my terrain. Of course no reason why these have to be CoC markers, the same would work for any game. I started with the plain MDF markers made by Olympian Games and simply textured, painted and flocked them as I do my figure bases. No rocket science but a pleasing result. I posted a bit more about it on my blog if you're interested but I think it's fairly self explanatory https://thetacticalpainter.blogspot.com/2019/12/game-markers-for-chain-of-command.html

L'Ardennes 2019 9 #bb107
Good evening everyone It is time to lay out the game plan for L¡¯Ardennes 2020. We are confirmed for an all-day Lard Games Day at the Games and Stuff in Glenn Burnie Maryland. You can visit their web page at http://gamesandstuffonline.com/. Games and Stuff is located at 7385 Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard, Glen Burnie, MD 21061. Phone (410) 863-7418. The store is very close to BWI Airport and is easily accessible via Routes 97 and 695. Games will be held at 1100 and 1500. The store opens at 1000 and closes at 2200. You are welcome to stay and play later games if you wish. There are many nearby restaurants but they do require a car. For lunch Burger King, Dunkin Donuts, and McDonalds are in walking distance. We may do a barbecue order for those wanting to eat at the store (Mission BBQ is about ? a mile away). There is plenty of table space for eating lunch. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed. For dinner I will sort out a local restaurant that is reasonably close and is suitably Baltimorean (more info to follow). If you wish to run a game please email me directly the following information: Desired Time Slot Rules Name of the Game Brief Description Number of Players Table Size Any other requirements you may need, e.g., terrain etc Please submit by 12/8/2019. Below is an example (I will be running the same game twice) Desired Time Slot - 1100 and 1500 (two games) Rules ¨C Chain of Command Name of the Game ¨C Alamo of the Ardennes Brief Description ¨C Captain Harry Patch has pulled together a ragtag blocking force of bumbling rear area troops (cooks, typists, HQ Staff, etc) at Stavelot to hold the crossing at the Ambleve River. After a day of fierce fighting, your armor support bugged out last night. No reinforcements have arrived. You can hear the sound of approaching armor and SS Panzer Grenadiers preparing another assault to take the bridge. Number of Players ¨C 4 Table Size ¨C 6 x 4 Any other requirements you may need, e.g., terrain etc - None I will post updates as the list of games is established. I will create a player signup form similar to what John Emmett developed for A Bridget Too Lard once we have a good selection of games. Cheers and I look forward to hearing from you. pb

Skirmishing in the Second Boer War
In response to my post on the Forum, it was suggested that Through the Mud and Blood could be used for gaming skirmish level (50 or so figures each side) actions between British forces and Bitter-Enders. I see mention of the Triumphant Standards supplement which covers the Irish War of Independence and perhaps that might be close enough to the Boer irregular forces. Has anyone tried this or can suggest anything else?

That's torn it 15
Well, that¡¯s thoroughly torn it.. in the last week I have been unduly tempted by the Warlord Games Black Friday resin vehicles sale.. with a 33% discount plus my Society of Ancients 10% - it would almost be rude not to. So a Lanchester armoured car was purchased, which basically commits me to doing 2nd Batt Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders for Malaya. Which means doing jungle terrain.. (eek!) (along with a nice little Soviet BA64, a Semovente, and a UNIC 304 thingy.. ) And probably Japanese as well¡ Lucky I have at least one Sarissa Eastern hut and a Warlord Chi-Ha in the stash. This could also mean a purchase of a couple of additional USMC squads from 1st Corps to add to the existing one I have. And I sorted through my plastics mountain to find Victrix Later Republican Romans. The bases undercoats are drying now. I¡¯m going to try out a new technique for the sabot bases as they are very time consuming. The cunning plan is to use the Warbases 8 base 1p bases pre-drilled for magnets, prime in black car spray to seal, add in blanks of old pennies, spray with ¡®stone¡¯ texture paint, pop out the pennies from underneath, glue in magnets and paint and flock. It should be less time-consuming than trying to add sand/glue to quite thin pieces of MDF. So that¡¯s ¡®Infamy, Infamy¡¯, the Far East and finishing off the Eastern Front terrain due up next on my calendar. Cheers Doug

Airfix kits in Lidl 2
For those of us that game in 20mm scale or thereabouts. My local branch of Lidl has various Airfix kits at 4.99. Included is a Willy's jeep with trailer and British airborne howitzer. Also Spitfire, Me109, HMS Victory, Mary Rose and others. Did not see any other vehicles but there is a Hornby railway set. Regards Andrew HOLMES

Shift to Groups io 40
Morning all. Just to let you know that we have set up a group in io and are just working to get everything transferred in plenty of time. Clearly we are looking to include all of the files as well as the message history and that should, I am told, port over all of the members as well. We will let you know more as information become available. As I am sure many of you will have realised, with over twenty different groups and forums covering TFL rules I was not personally keen on adding yet another. However, there is clearly a desire among members to replicate what exists here and I recognise that some of you may not be keen on the more contemporary alternatives. So, io it is. I do hope you enjoy it and continue to use it. Cheers Richard

Multi rule set campaign? 12
I¡¯m currently working planning a (primarily CoC) campaign, set early war , western desert, 15mm, and a little thought has crossed my mind. There are more than two of us intending to take part in the campaign, we¡¯re all busy preparing forces, and I know that I, for one have over prepared. Primarily the campaign needs to be 1-on-1 CoC, and I am working on scenarios where this can work. Fringes of larger encounters etc. There are however historical encounters too large for CoC, and it would be fun at some point to have a larger battle involving more of the players. So, the question. Big CoC, or IABSM for larger encounters? Reasons for either? Any thoughts?-- Nick Meredith nick.meredith@...

Riddle Me This... 62
Right. Much talk and discussion about the future of this group and options such as io.Groups. Let us look at some facts here. We have over 5000 members accumulated over the last 17 years, but we are seeing traffic of less than 100 postings a month. This does not suggest to me that this is a vibrant and much used forum. I posted a photo of a pint of beer on Twitter two hours ago and already 800 people have seen that. As it stands we have the forum, the Twitter feed and the Facebook Groups. And I do mean many Facebook Groups. Sharp Practice, Chain of Command, Chain of Command Australia, Chain of Command Germany, Kiss Me Hardy, Bag the Hun, yada yada yada. It is endless. It really is. My honest gut feel is that keeping alive a forum that gets less posts than my village dog walking group is not really sensible. I do appreciate that this Yahoo Group has been a fantastic place to be for many years, but those days seem to be largely gone. My own thoughts are that I see no benefit in forming an io group to have two or three messages a day. I am more concerned with finding a home for the files. If you want to have a chat, I suggest that using the general discussion page on the forum does the same job. That is where I currently stand having analysed all of the traffic data. That said, I would be open to discuss this further. Richard
