D-Day scenario for CoC

Hi all

Our club in Auckland, NZ is looking to put on a D-Day game using the CoC rules and I was looking for some scenarios or scenario ideas? Perhaps an Attack defence vs Germans in fortified positions. I've got one of the Airfix coastal defence forts and it would be nice to use in the scenario :-)

I did find some info on bunker in the summer 2017 special but I was hoping someone else has done the hard work and written a scenrio for CoC?

Cheers
Kieran

An immediate thought is that on D Day itself the main beach landings are not ideal for a game designed for a single platoon on platoon action, but one of the actions behind the beaches might work better.

If using Big CoC, 1 armoured platoon and 2 infantry platoons but you may want to make the defending Germans Green platoons with a Green Dice option. This uses 5s & 6s but ignores 1-4. Increases the chance of using a CoC dice to avoid morale checks and better chance of Interrupts etc.

Play the table in depth have a Para game in the inland portion.

We did this a few years back at a club day and had a ball. Not sure it was Chain that we used but it worked well.

Cheers,
Pete

AVRE section with supporting infantry platoon on a defended position, makes a great game.

It is worth having a look at the 2017 summer special Lard magazine.

Rich Clarke wrote three articles on 'bunker busting' on the West Wall. These should be readily adaptable for a D Day scenario.

If you want to do D-Day, there's the 29th lets?go mini campaign. If you don't have/ want to use US troops , you can alway substitute commonwealth ones. You might even be able to use your Airfix set.

Thanks all, we are planning a Big CoC game with 4+ players which I should have mentioned.

I like the idea of making Germans green as in all our games they have been Regulars.

I guess I'll adapt the game out of the 2017 Summer special to D-Day. Last year we played the 29lets go campaign and it was great but we are looking for something more specific to D-Day itself.

Just a thought but what about the action by the Suffolks to capture 'Hillman' on D Day?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillman_Fortress

Search for Widerstandsnest 17 ("Hillman"), Rue Suffolk R¨¦giment, Colleville-Montgomery, France on Google Earth

Widerstandsnest 16 ("Morris") - is still there but not restored and in the middle of a modern housing estate.

Rules from 2017 Summer Special will work. Remember most of the concrete is below ground, there were lots of connecting trenches, barbed wire and mines.
