In IABSM, most squads are 8-men strong (except American are 10-men).
Because the base unit in a squad, IABSM does not get down into the weeds of 7 riflemen, plus 1 guy with a pistol and 1 guy with a submachine gun. It is also assumed that the junior officer who leads that squad is part of that 8 men instead of having a separate figure for a junior leader.

In IABSM, the typical platoon consists of three, 8-men squads plus one platoon commander. All 3 squads can get activated either by their Platoon Card or by the Platoon Commander (assuming he has at least 3 initiatives).
