The game may need a third rewrite to account for each planes individual characteristics, like Zero and Wildcat. Im not sure that a basis given like diving speed, a staple of early American vs Japanese fighters, is covered in second edition.

whenever I am specifically doing a campaign, I look to tweak the general stats.? They are "global values" for games against any aircraft but? when in specific campaigns, the features of their stats are better related to their opposition.

The global value for a hurricane is a 5 manouvre value which is spot on against a zero or oscar in Malaya, but is too harsh against a? bF109 over Kent.

For Guadacanal, with the wildcat and the zero,? The main differences were speed and turning for the zero and roll rate for the wildcat.

I make staying on the tail of a wildcat conducting jinking? a tricky manouvre for the zero and a zero following a wildcat doing a barrel roll with a -1.

with the jinking manouvre, If a zero fails, he must add his d4 to his move.? ?this means if he overshoots, he at least gets some distance.? On e last bit....the wildcat isn't allowed to try to get on the zero's tail at the end of his move.? It makes this manoeuvre too powerful!!

You will find this makes the players fly their aircraft very differently than 2 planes with identical stats
