Re: WW2 88mm Flak 36

Nice work on the 88mm. And yes, like you, I find armour in Late War when there are effective AT infantry weapons and close ranges on a CoC tale, to be a support unit waiting to be destroyed.

?

I purchased the 88mm because I was making an order, and I like nice models. I have way more 1/56 armour than will ever see the table, but it¡¯s just the usual wargamer thing: I might need a Somua, or a Char B1 bis, a UNIC P107 or a King Tiger or another Sherman. And I genuinely like building and painting tank kits. ?If I put as much effort into CoC platoons as I did into models, I could cover every army, every theatres, early or late¡? ?

?

At one stage I counted 25 ¨C 30 AFV waiting in my painting queue. I managed to clear all my existing vehicle kits (26 of them) this week, so what do I do? Buy an 88, a Marmon Herrington, two Italian tankettes and a Japanese artillery piece. It¡¯s an addiction.

Doug,

?

For this?dunkelgelb is going to be your best bet.

?

So far I have an 88 mm painted up for early war. Had it on the table only once but as an objective in a game.

?

Have an 88 mm from Paint and Glue for my DAK (one figure finished) mounted on its wheels but ready to fire. One in a fixed position for late war - undercoated but.....?

?

Also got myself a Pak 43 88 mm from Warlord. It is a poor model to put together but built it, painted it and finished with varnish this afternoon.

?

Why all the gig guns? Not a clue really. At our CoC games at Colchester or down at Writtle (Essex Warriors) we cant' keep armour alive on table for more than a few phases even without the big sticks.

Doug,

?

The 2019 Lardie Magazine has a scenario, not a campaign, ¡®What a Whizz Of A Wiz...¡¯ that has an 88 mm deployed on table.

So I decided to pick up a model 88, and before it arrives I'm wondering about colour. Ie, early or Late War?*

?

Does the 88 figure in an on table role in any PSC? I can remember off table, but not on. It's much more likely to get on table in a PSC.

Cheers?

*Of course, the correct answer is to buy two, but I do have to have priorities.?
