Re: Sad day for my microtrak
Chris, Engineers and theoretical physicists will fight to the death about the losses of cross polarization. Some even argue that since co-polarization is never perfect, that there is no such thing as

Allen - I've been thinking about this from time to time.?and wondering about the cross-polarization issue specifically.? Any idea how much performance is sacrificed in that case?? Or I've wondered

Re: Sad day for my microtrak
Testing antennas ahead of time is always a good thing!? The stability of a transmitter is affected by more factors than can be evaluated by just static, low power SWR/VNA testing. I just wanted to

Liz, We will pray for the health and soul of your RTG! :) What kind of antenna are you going to use inside the vehicle? The RTG relies on the vehicle to act as a ground and counterpoise for the

Re: MTT4BT Source Code?
N2QOJ says: I ask because I have seen a few requests for similar things on this group's archives, and the answer always seems to be "Well, maybe if I get time to write that". One of the perks of

Re: MTT4BT Source Code?
The M8N "chip" does run off 3.3V, but most users are not connecting directly to the chip. There are many interface modules sold on electronics sites (and Amazon) like:?

Robert, I looked up the data sheet for the uBlox receiver Amelia specified. ( Sweet mother of the Buddha! Who writes these things?) and it looks like it is not happy above 3.3 Volts. It appears that

Re: MTT4BT Source Code?
If you are still using the socketed Max232a level shifter, you can remove it and use jumpers to read TTL data as I have done in my MTT4B.All the u-Blox GPS modules I have (rather old now) handle 5V or

Re: MTT4BT Source Code?
Amelia, The MTT4BT would require some internal hardware changes to deal with the 3 Volt UART output from the uBlox GPS. Unlike the TT4, the MTT4BT does not have jumper pin selectable TTL/Serial I/O's.

Yeah, I am going to be using a Teensy 4.1 already to convert a USB HID device to PS/2, but I would really rather not also deal with doing a translation of an HD44780 bus as well, you know? Much better

Re: MTT4BT Source Code?
Probably not open source, but you could code a little micro or feather or pi-pico or whatnot as an interface gizmo and translate messages and drive a display to your liking.
