Byon has sold out on all of his current stock of the TT4BT device, but I talked ( well, emailed) with him today and he is looking at production options.?
In my design of the MTT4BT transceivers, we built an HC-05 into the unit so that you can jumper select either a wired, serial port, or the BT module. Additionally, there is a jumper setting that allows the configuration of the HC-05 module through the serial port on the box. This is so it can be given a name, ( Instead of just a number) Password, Baud rate, etc.? It is helpful if the Baud rate of the HC-05 can be set to the default start-up rate of the MTT4BT ( 19200? but its not 100 percent necessary. With new TT4's, you can configure the TT4 from either PORTA or PORTB, so if things get messed up, you can always recover. You can configure MTT4BT's through either port, but like the regular TT4, you can only load new firmware through PORTA ( There are few reasons you would need to anyway)?
Note that the HC-05 Bluetooth module is actually looking for a TTL input of 3 Volts, not the 5 Volt TTL with which the TT4 chip communicates. This is not unusual with GPS modules. In the MTT4BT, there is a voltage divider consisting of a pair of resistors, to prevent smoking anything. You can see how this is handled in the MTT4BT manual where there is a schematic and detailed info on how to configure the BT module to make it happily compatible with the TT4 controller. The MTT4BT design also incorporates LED's for the BT status lights. It is much easier to configure the BT modules if you can see the status lights!?
FYI, I stole the idea of a built in BT module from Rob, who brute-forced a BT module into an earlier MTT4 design.?

You can email them, they are usually really good about answering in a timely manner. I am interested in the TT4BT as well so post up an update if you find out any news...Please.

I noticed on the byonics website the Bluetooth unit TT4BT is out of stock...I was wondering if anybody knew when there was going to be more in stock or a good alternative to it?
I seen little Bluetooth units on Amazon that have transmit receive ground and power pins for rs232 I was wondering if those would work? Thanks? Scott V. |
