Re: [qrptech] FYI Cheap ($2!) vernier dials from Aliexpress

I see that a lot (in cases 2x more) . I don't know if they are hoping you will reorder without checking the new price, exchange rate changed or something else. The working search key is the part number and there are lots of sellers. I put all examples of a potentially low price option I find in my cart and then delete all but the cheapest as there is no way to find a listing again unless you've bought it before that I can find.

Knowing that there *are* low cost, well made dials is a huge boon. Can't look for what you don't know to look for. Ebay paints a very pessimistic picture of pricing. I wasn't looking for these. They just showed up on the Aliexpress page so I searched on the part number and picked the cheapest option at the time.

At $5 US they are still a great deal in my book. I'm going to mount one minus the ugly black plastic on a black anodized front panel for a QRP rig.

Have Fun!

Hello Reg,
Thanks for the heads-up.
When I tried the link you sent, the price of one landed in Australia would be US$4.50 at today's exchange rate.

An update on these:

The range of rotation is ~300 degrees with clutched stops at the ends. They take a 6 mm shaft, so drilling out is needed to accommodate 1/4" shafts.? They are intended for single turn pots.? So you only get 0-60 in 180 degrees. However, with laser engravers common, a custom dial shouldn't be a problem.? So for anyone who is fond of pure analog radios they are a steal.

I've attached one to an existing? breadboard variable and also showed the bracket which is included with an air trimmer in position, but not attached.? The air trimmer shaft just isn't long enough.

There are a slew of other sellers, possibly at better prices. It changes constantly.

This is all I have to say on this thread unless someone has a question.? I thought I should give people a heads up that these were available at such reasonable prices.

Have Fun!
Reg
