Re: Important notice

I got into an email argument with a member of Tekscopes,
and when he found he couldn't defend his point, he got mad
and turned me in to Spamhaus as a spammer... He even bragged
about what he did... foolishly breaking protocol by not
saying, "Nanny nanny poo poo!" It was real school yard stuff...

I took it as bluster, and shrugged it off. Within days I
started noticing that my customers were not responding to my
emails. A few more days and my 90 year old mother wasn't
respond to my emails...

Since I controlled my mother's email account, I was able
to dig around and look for the problem. I found all of my
emails in her spam folder at her ISP. So, I asked the ISP
why they were blocking me. They said they subscribed to a
spam blocking system run by Spamhaus, and it was identifying
me as a known spammer. They said that I needed to go to
Spamhaus to be restored to normal status... So, I did.

Spamhaus told me to fill out a form, with all sorts of private
info, and fax or snail mail it to them. After verifying the
information on the form, I would likely be removed from the
list.

Yeah, sure, like I'm really going to do that!

Since Spamhaus is in another country, and my mother's ISP is
local, I sicced my lawyer on my mother's ISP for restraint of
trade, and some how everything got straightened out pdq.

I'm sure there are as many reasons for folks being on Spamhaus's
list as there are folks on Spamhaus's list...

I hate Spamhaus way more than I do the spammers.

Well, they take notice from *ANYONE* that says you are a
spammer as gospel, and put you on their official list of
known spammers.
IMHO that is not the major problem, which is companies consolidating
hosting providers. Consolidation reduces the number of email servers,
each of which then handles email from many hosting companies, Spam
from one account sent through one of the consolidated email servers
can cause blacklisting of that server IP and affect many customers of
many different consolidated hosts who use that particular email
server.
