WTB: battery power pack for 422 scope.

I picked up a Tektronix 422 at the Rochester hamfest this morning, it works somewhat, the jug is bright, and I think it will restore very well. The manual mentions a battery pack for it, and I would like to find one. I am more concerned about it being complete than whether it works. Thanks,

Hi Bruce,

I make a replacement battery pack for the 222 scope. It’s out of stock at the moment but I expect to be restocked this week. See it at . It will also be back on eBay once I’m restocked.

The battery pack lets you use standard 18650 lithium batteries in place of the original lead acid pack, which is no longer available. It requires no modification to the scope in any way, and fits in the original battery location.

Before you buy a battery, are you sure your scope can use it? Type 422 has a modular power supply which can be either of two types. Part number 016-0073-00 permits attachment of a battery pack, while 016-0072-00 is AC only.

Thank you for the reply. The 422 scope is many times the size of a 222 or 224, a totally different design.

Jeff,

It looks like there might be another business opportunity here. Maybe. :-)

Cheers, Brian.

Jeff,

That was your design?

I really like mine. It works well and is a very good product.

Hi Ross,

I'd really like to take credit for the design, but it originated with someone else who agreed to license the design to me (I checked even though it had a Creative Commons license). I didn't use his case design. I instead modified a case design I found on Thingiverse. There's a great YouTube video about the charger - and a nice writeup at Tektronix 222 Battery Pack [Kitsune Denshi] (kitsune-denshi.net)<>.
