I have a DC505A which appears to have a shorted power rail somewhere. It blew the main fuse in a TM501. I cannot get into it as it is so tightly packed, with the power components being 'inside' the sandwich of the main and trigger boards. I can reach the fat Tantalum cap (Red/Violet) but that's all. Any advice on how to check it and / or open it up ? many thanks for any insights.

There are several screws & standoffs that allow you to disassemble the sandwiched boards. They are visible from the left side.
You need to remove the knobs and separate the faceplate first so you can get some movement on the internals.
