They¡¯re Both Dead Jim

A friend, shedding load, recently passed on to me a pair of 555 scopes. One was a known DOA, does not power up with any indications or status lights at all. The other was working fine and put on service as a modulation waveform monitor in my shack for my Central Electronics CE20A Multiphase Exciter and CE 600L linear amplifier. Last weekend, I noticed after an hour or so of operation, the scope trace was suddenly gone, however, the staus lights on the various controls were still working, and indicated that the trace was being properly triggered.

Looking for a manual for the 555 and any info on common failure modes.

Hi surplus sales Nebraska has one (PUB) TEK-455 Tektronix 455/A2/B2 Oscilloscope Manual $45.00...I couldn't find another without having to
download unwanted software.

I should add...sometimes the dead ones are the easiest to fix.

I agree, possible power supply related issues, including hose are indeed usually straightforward. Thanks for the link to a manual!

The shack heater reference made me recheck the model number - I made a typo...they are actually 455s! Weird ¡°60s modern¡± style front panel shape, asymmetrical to boot! Now my 535A, that¡¯s a shack heater!
