Pre-Production PG 503 ?

I put some photos on groups.io of a PG 503 (I keep writing FG 503)? but it is a PG 503.

/g/TekScopes/album?id=74633

There are two reasons I think it might be pre-production, the serial number and the small patch board both shown in the pictures.

The patch board adds a feature to this unit which is shown in the manual I got from Artekmedia but apparently not part of this power supply PC board itself.? There are three N channel? FETs on that patch board which seem to squelch the outputs for about 1.25 seconds after power up.? Maybe this eliminates some nasty transients at power up.

The patch board is powered from pins 1A & 1B which is an AC voltage source from the TM.? I haven't tested the unit yet and plan to add a 1.5 A fuse to the power going to the patch board as shown in the service manual before powering it up.

If anybody has any comments about the PG503 and my plan of adding the fuse I would be interested.? There doesn't seem to be much information on the PG 503 available.

Thanks,

Bob.

Hi Bob,

I have myself two PG503's. One early production (no SN) and one with a SN. Both incorporated your patchboard into the Power Supply Board. I uploaded a picture of it.

Interesting to see how they divided it up between two empty spaces on the board.? Looks like there were some resistor values changes too although I need to get out my magnifying glass. Thanks for putting up the picture.

You have two PG503's?

Bob.

Hi Egge Siert,
Two questions: What is the link to the picture, and where did you find these?
