I ended up with a couple of P5050 500MHz probes. They say they are for the TDS5000, but I would like to use them with my TDS3064. They seem to compensate perfectly on the TDS3064. Is there any reason that I shouldn’t use them?

absolutely no reason at all - in our labs every probe gets used with every scope. Keeping scopes and probes together is a constant irritation for the lab manager. Its been like that all my career :-)
