I have a 7S12 that 'half-works', in that I see the pulse from the S52 / S6
combo and I get the step-response from a length of cable BUT, the Time /
Distance crank does nothing to the display and the Locate button just
gives a bright dot at far LHS.
I have done basic tests on the horizontal circuitry, and re-seated the ICs
on the Horizontal board. These have 'proper' sockets, not the T*x*s ones. I
don't have any extenders, and anyway, the H and V boards need their own
extender cards so I can't probe any of the TPs. And it's not a loose screw
on the T / D shaft.
Has anyone been here ? I sort-of suspect one of the ICs on the H board but
don't want to tear into it without asking advice.

The Locate highlighted portion length should match the Time/div setting. For Time/div fully CCW (at a given range) the portion should be about 50% of the total length. Is Time/div also defective, apart from Time/Distance?
