Agilent 85024A and Tektronix 492AP

Hello!! I'm Manuel from Spain...
I'm new to the group. I have a used and refurbished Tektronix 492BP in good working order... I buy from a seller from ebay...

I'm studying the manual, the service manual and all the things...
I need help for two questions:

1. A Probe as the Agilent 85024A will take power from the 492BP connector in the rear panel??? It is possible or I need a separate power supply for the probe.

2. My 492 has in the front the sticker 492BP, but in the display starts as 492AP FW 9.1, and it does not have "counter" nor 3MHz filter. Can it be possible to change personality through the dips that configures the type equipment in the memory card?? Can It be a 492AP with a refurbished front panel??

Thanks All the Group!!
Manuel

For the question 1 only ?, you can made a adapter from 492AP rear power socket to HP85024A power plug .
You need to purchase plug for TEK power socket and HP power socket for power plug of 85024A .
I did made such adapter cable for my 85024A to Advantest Spectrum Analyzer ( they are using same format of TEK ). Be careful the +15 -15 and GND? ( 85024A can accept +12.6V up to 20% = 15V )
But the most simple way are using a HP probe power supply .

Thank You Tony!

I'm better to make a external power supply, it is easy and I would use the probe with other spectrum analysers.

A simple wall AC power with 16V AC and a chinese supply for audio preamplifier with LM337 and LM317 will do.. HI HI...

Regarding the 492BP question, I will try some dip combinations in memory card to see if it will work. I need the counter function although it have poor resolution... +-5KHz at 2GHz... Oh my good!!! I will need a microwave counter, :-( to test microwave PLLs...

Manuel

Yes, you can made a external power supply for the 85024A, the supply voltage for the probe is -12.6V +/- 20% and 15V +/- 20%, otherwise?may damage the probe ( there are regulator inside the box of probe ),
As I saw on the group posted information ,there are replacement for the power plug ( R&S 468-958 ) with some modification ,but not the socket ?

Wow! This group is active...

My old-new 492BP is working well, and I buy a HP85024A from EvilBay, I hope it works when it arrive at home...

In the meantime I need the connector for the power supply to power the HP 85024A....
Please Tony or someoun, can you confirm that this one is the correct conector:
