Tek 1240/1241 modules: Any use? Sell? Barter?

Alexandre Souza - Listas

Today was a happy day!

A good friend of mine called me on his house, because he found "some HP junk" and wanted me to drag it out.

And I found a complete set of tools for 1240/12xx (color model) Tektronix Logic Analysers, with 8086 pod, 80186 pod, 80286 pod (all in mint condition), mostly (if not) all the ROM packs, the 64K ram expansion, serial/parallel expansions, common pods, the whole nine yards! Just misses the analyser itself (I got it early, but it had the main processor board fried by the supercap eletrolite which leaked) and some more junk, a

Is someone in need of the fluke and tektronix parts? I don't think I'll use it in a lifetime. Remember I'm in Brazil :o)

Thanks
Alexandre Souza

If the pods include the p6460 *with* the plug-in wire grabbers, I've often
seen them go for more than the 1240 analyzers themselves on ebay.
And shipping from Brazil should be a lot less than the mainframe itself, I hope.

Not sure what anyone would do with the X86 stuff these days, unless they were
building a retro-computing project of some sort. I've never actually seen any of
the expansion packs.

The 1240 is infamous for having a pacemaker battery as the backup power
for the SRAM. After many years, it leaks nasty stuff all over the processor
board. I've replaced that battery with a more modern lithium battery on my
units.

Sadly, I rarely power up my 1240s (100Mhz), or my Tektronix 3001GPX (1Ghz) anymore.
Unless I need a ton of signals, I usually pull out a Saleae Logic16 instead, and I'm still tempted
to pick up a 34 channel Intronix Logicport if I needed to go to 500Mhz (yes, I'm aware of the limitations
of both of these units).

That is what happened to mine :(

I had a 3001GPX for a time, but never found the pods to buy. Gave it away to a friend (which never found the pods, anyway). I use my HP16500C a LOT, even doing reverse assembly work.
