The interesting thread about phase shift reminds me of a rule of thumb I have been using for years. 'ELI the ICE man'. Voltage (E) is before Current (I) in an inductor (L). Current is before Voltage in a Capacitor. This and the right hand rule about the field direction are well worth remembering.
