2215 intensity problem.

Jeff Kershaw

Hi all,

I am restoring a 2215 for my Dad. I have managed to cobble together a
couple of them and have an almost good one, save one problem. The 'scope
has good intensity at long sweep times, but when I switch it to faster
sweeps, the trace fades away. Sometimes lowering the intensity pot a bit
helps, but it is still not a nice bright trace. I have adjusted the bias
and the focus as per the service manual. I wonder if this is a tube problem
or something else. The subject scope worked well with the old tube (I used
it in another 'scope). I had to change the control board and the tube and
hope that the problem is related to the control board. I have another board
that can be used with the exception of the timebase switch.

So there you have it. Any help fixing my Dad's (9-17) b-day present would
be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Jeff

Sounds like you need a new CRT to me.

Thanks Stan,

I added a turn to the heater xfrmr for now and will look for a new tube.
