Re: Faulty 2465B
Thanks Siggi, I'll put a scope on the rails when I've managed to put the PSU boards back in! I did have a good visual check of them and there is no obvious electrolyte leakage or bulging, but while

Re: Faulty 2465B
Hey Keith, Do you have a second scope at hand? You probably want to next measure the ripple on the rails, it's not unlikely that the power supply boards need recapping. These scopes are

Faulty 2465B
I've a Tek 2465B that I recently acquired, it was described as 'no trace' and that is true, when powered up various leds flash for a bit but no trace is visible, with or without the beam finder

Re: Tristar processor
I don't recall seeing much info at all on that DSP. On the TDSxx scope series it would be U1097 on the CPU board; it has the National Semi logo and labelled ADG500B. I think this was a series of

Re: Tristar processor
AFAIK is some kind of ASIC, Danaher internal only. AFAIK again, they are the chips behind the RAM on the top of the TDS5xx and TDS7xx. -- With best regards Tam HANNA Enjoy electronics? Join 21k4

Re: TekCATS for DSA
If it's anything like the TDS adjustment software (also based on Tek "CATS OS", so I would think so), then yeah it's fairly hardcoded to use a certain type of GPIB card on the ISA bus, and you will

DSA 602, using 7K plugins
I showed years ago that a 7CT1N could be used in a DSA602A in X/Y mode. There is an album 7CT1N-DSA602 in the photos folder. There are not many 7000 modules that would be useful in a 11K mainframe if

Re: TekCATS for DSA
that's where it was! Maybe it can be used only with the GP-IB interface? - I am using a MS-DOS PC WITHOUT the GP-IB interface OR - I am using a modern PC WITH a USB adapter but I don't know how to

Tristar processor
I could not find any description of the Tektronix Tristar DSP. I understand that the DSA series probably was not very popular, but as far I know it was widely used also on the TDSs. Any suggestion for

Re: R7613 to regular 7613 conversion?
OK, the CRT socket wiring interference issue is fixed, and while I had everything opened up I did some fan cooling experiments. I managed to fit a 3" diameter low (<5/8") profile DC fan in there

Re: TekCATS for DSA
Go to H?kan¡®s download web page. A version is listed immediately below the TEKCATS_11300 listed in the Obsolete Tektronix Softwares. I don¡¯t know if it covers the DSA unit that you have.

Re: Is anyone out there still repairing refurbishing restoring 500 series oscilloscopes?
Thanks John. BTW no scopes were harmed to make the frankie. The scope was entirely constructed from bits and pieces that were recovered from 502¡¯s that were too far gone to salvage.

Re: Is anyone out there still repairing refurbishing restoring 500 series oscilloscopes?
Bill, I paid a little more for my 556, but it is serial number 122 and has a P11 phosphor CRT. It works rather well and I¡¯ve had it up to 126Mhz but like you say at a diminished amplitude. The R556

Thank you for your comments. The 502 Frankenscope. Is a hybrid. It was made from a 502. The three plugins are from a 561A. They connect directly to the deflection plate pins on the 502 crt. I was

I have a very mint 556. Bought it with the original manuals about 15 years ago for 25 bucks at a ham fest (cost me 35 for an 8608 driver tube to get it running right!) I have lot of plugins for it
