Re: Puzzle of the day: 465b will not trigger on channel 2 SUCCESS!
I looked the transistors up earlier. Q1746 and Q1954 have an Ft of 900 MHz, Ccb of 3 pf, and are similar to a 2N4258 or PN4258. Any PNP RF transistor like an MPSH81 should work but you can use 2N3906

Re: Puzzle of the day: 465b will not trigger on channel 2 SUCCESS!
Hi Tom, I checked the transistor with a DMM on diode (which I think I read in the tek manual you shouldn't do... oops) and an analogue meter and I cannot get any sign of life at all. I think all the

Recheck the voltages on Q1746. E-B-C . If you really have +15.02 on the emitter and +8.92 on the base, that transistor has an open B-E junction. Tom

Re: Rant: Analog vs Digital
My favorite was the Commodore 64, SX64, 128 & 128D computers, and I did a lot of writing with a freeware program called Speedscript.

I checked those transistors as you requested... here is a link to the schematic with my voltages: 465 schematic 2 <http://www.horusdevelopment.com/tmp/465bSchematic2.jpg> Q1845 is showing +15.02 at

Brad, it is easy to see how it happens and the practice is virtually non-existant today. When I was at Tek, several employees, myself included, built instruments from rejected circuit boards. If it

Peter, I did not work for Bell Labs directly But was a design engineer with Western Electric and on loan to the labs, both were owned by AT&T. That did not matter though because we had workers from

Josh, I am jumping onto this thread late & I haven't been following it closely, so you may have already tried what I am about to suggest. I assume all the power supplies are close to what they should

TEK 2465B
Hello, I have aquired a Tek 2465B. I was told that it works fine. I plug it in and the back lite pulses and there is no front panel lights There is no trace, probably no high voltage. I can hear the

The 465B schematics have been bothering me for a while because the block diagram I have shows the vertical output amplifier on schematic 4 while the schematics I have include it on schematic 5 and

Re: Puzzle of the day: 465b will not trigger on channel 2
Hello Tom, I measured each resistor in circuit with the power off... R1838: Should be 47 = I get 47.4 R1934: Should be 1.07K = I get 1.07K R1834: Should be 1.30K = I get 1.30K I knew I should have

Re: Puzzle of the day: 465b will not trigger on channel 2
I think the next step is to check the resistor values of R1838, R1934, and R1834. R1834 going high would do this. Tom

Re: 475 progress but another road-block
Hi Josh, if you have an RMS multimeter, just build a simple RC low-pass filter and test for AC voltage across the filter. The filter removes AC (or high-frequency AC, depending how you've built it),

I doubt there was any well thought intention. Most likely the work of the bearded guy with roman sandals or the pony tailed one with flip flops that did it just because they found it to be "cool".
