Re: Video of bandwidth test
True for scopes of this generation, but virtually all modern DSOs have moved to DSP, even the lost cost models. few modern high speed DSOs use Gaussian response. The rolloff attenuates the odd

Re: Need help choosing a scope and some other RF capable equipment.
Perhaps the intent has something to do with the orientation of the water molecules, rather than something like dielectric loss. Perhaps the effect is more of a chemical nature? Or it could just be

Re: tool for Tek 475/465 attenuator assembly
Hello, Please see my message # 86484. There are two photos showing how I reassembled my unit. I used a Stanley 1/4 inch socket driver, should be available in almost any hardware store. I also used an

Re: Video of bandwidth test
This is what you would expect. For a non-DSP front-end, in order to avoid time domain aberrations, there has to be a smooth rolloff in the frequency domain. Most Tek (and other) scopes have close to

Re: No one going to chime in on the TAS485?
Sorry, I meant they are not well liked today, by list members and other discerning scope users. They probably just suffer in comparison to the dirt cheap 2465s we enjoy now.

Video of bandwidth test
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-PlvqTTRww A guy puts a Tek 2430A through the tests. (The real test starts at about the 4:00 mark.) The 2430A runs right through 500 MHz, although the trigger stops

tool for Tek 475/465 attenuator assembly
Anybody knows were I can buy a tool that can ease the mounting/dismounting of the Tektronix 475/465 attenuator switch assembly/board? Particularly the two nuts per channel that hold the bnc connector

Re: No one going to chime in on the TAS485?
The TAS4x5 line shares most of it's components with the TDS Tek scopes of the time. If I remember correctly the CRT is the same as the one in the TDS430. Also the power supply and case were used in

Re: No one going to chime in on the TAS485?
I own a TAS475! It is a nice scope, but couldn't find a nice service manual for it?anywhere. Last analog family from Tektronix. Most of it is hybrid circuits, but the fact that it was made during the

Re: smt curve tracer adapters
Hi Jerry, Please put me down for one of whatever you come up with on the curve tracer to surface mount adapter. It looks like wiring that test socket for multiple chip variations will be a challenge.

Re: No one going to chime in on the TAS485?
I am not sure that the scopes were not well liked by customers, or rather the fact that Tek really did not promote them and watered down their support to the sales force. These were the very last

Re: Need help choosing a scope and some other RF capable equipment.
Actually, nobody really knows where it originated. According to the wiki, the phrase started appearing back in the 1930's and 40's. Heinlen popularized it, and it was the central theme of the book.

Though TANSTAAFL doesn't originate with Heinlein. As far as I know it belongs to Buckminster Fuller. D.

Re: Need help choosing a scope and some other RF capable equipment.
Cost is the likely reason that one of the posters to this thread suggested using an "Bias Tee" which allows you to add DC to an RF signal from a normal RF oscillator or signal generator. Regards,
