You're right, but it doesn't have to be big, or even a designated capacitor. Mind the parasitics! The CRT with its parastic anode capacitance is enough to zap you big time. Cheers, Kuba

VARIACS ARE NOT ISOLATION TRANSFORMERS!!! VARIACs are wonderfup things and every electronics professional should own one. But they are not transformers in the sense that you are most familiar with. AC
