Re: 468 A15 Board Removal (update with vertical problems)
OK, false alarm.
The reason the switch was not working is precisely because the digital storage board main connector wasn't connected! A14 gets a 5V5 feed looped via the A16 Digital Storage Board,

Re: Card Edge Connectors on a 7704
When I put together a kit of parts to make 7k flex extenders, I measured 40 plugins and got an idea of the tolerances and had some made by a requested mod to a Taiwanese connector. A standard

Yes. I thought I remembered reading a post from Dennis talking about this but I was not able craft a search to find the thread. I'm a little worried that the main body of the connector, the comb

Ailtech 460 - Adret 7100 signal generator help O/T
I realize that this is off topic, but:
Does anyone reading this use either an Ailtech 460 signal generator or the Adret 7100 version...?
I have a couple of questions I need answers to before I can

Re: 464 Working properly?
Yup, it shows a ripply, moving wave when i touch my finger to it...I can
never get it to be static though (even the square scrolls).
So it sounds like it's basically working, huh? I don't get why the

You have to realize that virtually all contact pressure in those connectors comes from the plastic covers; unsolder the connector, remove the cover and all contacts will land on the

Re: Tek 453 resistor specs -- Horiz amp
Hello Barry,
Metal film could be better, I agree, and I am not committed to carbon film.
As I recall, carbon comp had lower inductance than the other two types, but of course they can drift in

Jeff,
You probably already know this but a word of caution. The fingers in that connector are very easily bent. The mid-board trace for one of the fingers in the left vertical slot in my 7704A

that is EXACTLY what I need, and it may explain why one of the remaining slots (B HORIZ) is not working properly: it looks like the lower half of the A cover plate is loose, which is causing

Just curios why a carbon film. Wouldn't metal film be as good or, possibly, a better choice for stability, etc.?
Thanks,

Re: 464 Working properly?
The behavior your describe where the line "bounces" up is what happens. With the variable voltage knob on the generator, the line will ease up and down as I turn it. Maybe it IS working then? I

Re: Tek 453 resistor specs -- Horiz amp
Hello Mark,
Thanks for the advice -- I will try it soon. I will probably put in 1/4W 1% carbon film to replace the broken ones. That might be over-kill, but the cost difference should be small. I

All you probably need is replacements for the plastic bits that clip onto the sides of the sockets. Without those the contacts won't make contact - at least not consistently.
AFAIK they are only
