Re: Tek 2465 stuck in horizontal sweep
Hello gents, Almost there! I received the Allen key 1/16" today and could remove the upper knob of the time base switch and I did inject cleaning spray along the shaft and it seems to help. Actually,

Re: FG502 with no working FREQUENCY control
Jeff, FYI it's not epoxy, it's a lacquer sealant similar to fingernail polish. Manufacturers used to apply it to pots to prevent them from moving and also sometimes so that they could see if they

Re: FG502 with no working FREQUENCY control
Mark, I assume that you are talking about C530, C532, C540, and C542 in the output amplifier (1 uF caps in parallel with 33 ¦¸ resistors). Pardon my ignorance, but what would be considered "high ESR"

Re: FG502 with no working FREQUENCY control
Jeff, The 1mfd bypass across the 33 ohm emitter resistors are 35V. They may have high ESR. I have seen enough high ESR 1mfd tantalums and replaced them with film types in my items. It may be better

Re: To dream the impossible dream
I realized (about an hour later) that there must be a separate graticule for non-dedicated scopes, I just have never seen one.? I have two of the 7603s with the internal version.? I should look

Re: FG502 with no working FREQUENCY control
Update on the high amplitude and clipping of the sine wave: I traced the "problem" to the sine wave buffer between the sine shaper network and the output amplifier. After thoroughly (or obsessively)

Re: Type 106 Saga (Again)
Quest Components shows many 2N4240 available in small quantities at prices much more reasonable than *bay: https://www.questcomp.com/ And they have flat rate shipping. Shaun Merrigan

Re: To dream the impossible dream
Fairly sure my 7603 has a separate SA graticle, since I'm currently using the standard graticle instead.

Re: Type 106 Saga (Again)
I made use of Mouser¡¯s search function and looked at all TO-220 NPN that were 300V+ and 2A-10A. The widest Safe Operating Area is the BUJ303, and it¡¯s better than the Mospec/Harris/Boca 2N4240

Re: 7B80 : P-P AUTO Not Working Correctly
I tried my 7B50A this morning and it exhibits the same behavior so I'm wondering if there's not really a problem with the 7B80 and that's just how they worked. I saw a video from Zenn where he was

A quick reply to all, as am in the middle of a jo, but... ...there is a 75v zener (VR1718) which I noticed this morning that has failed, so I'm gonna change that first before anything. This is also

James, Well done for discovering the error but you need to get the +65V fixed before something else gets too hot. You need to (quickly ?) measure the voltage at each point along the chain from (pin

This explains why center tap wasn't behaving like center tap. These voltages are still wrong and if the scope is powered like this it will cause more damage. Most of them are wrong because +65V is

Re: Help required finding a Tek 466 power rail short
When you touch the probe tip to the contact, the tip jumps from zero to whatever the contact is at. Your DVM sees this as a large AC voltage, which it is. As time passes, the only AC the probe sees is
