Re: I built a TM500 mainframe tester, and updated the design. Someone might find this useful? GROUNDING ISSUE
Oh wow, nice catch. I think a fiber or nylon/etc washer or the like would be a workable fix here. Jared

Free Tek toroids, coils and current transformers, plus a new B Trig 7904 assembly
This clean up is taking me to parts I have never seen before, batches we bought from service centers but never got around to looking through. There are a lot of 1-2-3 parts that are 108, 114 and 120

Re: 7A16A with an unknown modification MOD515D
Thanks you guys. That's more to go on. I'm looking at the additional connections to the card edge connector to see if I can figure it out. Also the shielded connections going to the top. I've never

Martin, Unless it happens to you it's difficult to believe. When you agree to use PayPal (or whichever latest flavor is currently popular) you rather explicitly allow them to reach into your bank

Ah, yes, and Sage Millimeter just changed its name to Eravant. Another engineer here at Raytheon told me Sage was infamous for poor delivery. Not surprised to hear they changed their name. Beware!

Re: New to Tek 465B operation
As you learned, some scopes have 1x/10x indicator lights on the dial. ex. 465M does not. 465M you just have to remember (no direction is better than misdirection.) ex. 465B it is selected by the

Re: New to Tek 465B operation
Thanks everyone for the great advice! I¡¯m looking into that probe now... I found a complete service manual, it says for serials below 30,000. I have a newer 465B with SN:B045757, is there much

Thats the "thingy" I'm talking about, yes. You say it allows them to "suck money out of my account". What I do not understand is that they are already able to do that via my credit card. Buyers

Re: OT: Stabilizing Old Transformer Input Wires
You can consider a 2 part potting compound. A while back, I bought some Dow Corning Sylgard 160, which comes in dual tube 400 ml units. It is intended to be dispensed with a special "caulking gun"

<Sure... but how does this account thingy increases their revenue?> Are you talking about the switch from PayPal being the escrow agent to Ebay doing that themselves or are you talking about the fact

Re: 7A16A with an unknown modification MOD515D
I wouldn't change it. MOD515D adds to basic 7A16A the ability to remotely operate the band width, polarity and position functions. Very rare. I think was used in conjunction with a 7912 or 7612D. I

I will definitely take my time and not damage the circuit board. I¡¯ve always known to use sufficient heat and be quick about time on the board. Great information from all!! Thank you, Bill

Re: OT: Stabilizing Old Transformer Input Wires
Barry, the silicone is not strong enough, I have fixed this problem with a small c clamp strain relief screwed on to the new wires. Instead of tar or silicone I have used hot melt glue, but first

Sure... but how does this account thingy increases their revenue? What a difference does it make compared to the process in place today (using my credit card)? I'm just talking about the transits

"Actually what I do not understand: I already have Ebay getting its fees via my credit card, and vice versa if they reimbourse something. So why do they need anything in addition to that?" One word?

Re: 465 Electrolytic Capacitor Replacement
I hate to admit it here but I have used a very hot hot air gun to heat the backside of circuit cards until the solder melts and then slam the board down on a table to knock dozens of surface mount

Here's someone using "Shoe Goo" urethane to hand make strain relief on cables. It may work in this application as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JU2jsbGNcZE -- Jeff Dutky
