Hello everyone. I¡¯m new to electronics. I¡¯m fascinated and overwhelmed with the subject and hoping that I can fit all this information in my brain! I always wanted a Tek scope and I bought a 454

Re: 475 with no Display and no HV
Hello Reed, You just have been reading my mind. I was wondering how to handle the HV lead out to the CRT. What about the Focus Tap on the module. I am guessing that is left unterminated and highly

Re: 475 with no Display and no HV
Hi Ripley: Good show, a new 3X voltage multiplier will get your 475 back on the air.? If you elect to get an ECG or NTS 538 or 539 you will have to splice the HV lead leaving the new tripler.? I

Re: 475 with no Display and no HV
Hi Reed, Per your suggestion I disconnected the wire from the secondary of T1320 to the voltage tripler and powered up the scope. The waveform at TP1318 immediately snapped to 32 volts p-p at about

TM5xx extenders
Good morning - is anyone still making the TM5xx extenders talked about here in 2017 and 2018? The amazon page to Dan Meek's version says "currently unavailable" and the link I found to John's version

Re: Uncooperative 7834
I can totally understand the temptation to get drastic, but recommend not defeating the built-in protection of the PS - it may work, but there's a good chance that the bad part in the mainframe will

still trying to track down 2216 manuals
I've search through the archives here and saw the 2014(?) discussion on the 2216 service manual. I have copies of the partial manuals for the 2216 and 2212. Alas, no schematics. Yet. I am surmising

Re: Uncooperative 7834
ok, limiting is your friend here. That's mean. It'll work, but not sure about the collateral damage. Since you have storage scopes, have you any idea of which supplies are causing the problem? Can

Re: Uncooperative 7834
No, I don?t think so. I got the impression that the problem occurs when and only when the mainframe is connected and not the dummy load. Try to lift one voltage to the mainframe at a time if this is

Re: 2467 restoration: Battery, cleaning
I usually get mine from OSI, which can be found on the internet. They are about $16 plus shipping. OSI sells the same part, but as replacement for use in different instruments... for different prices,

Re: Uncooperative 7834
So far I'm getting nowhere fast. I'm tempted to remove Q1254 (which will prevent the inverter stop signal from shutting the supply down), and using a 200W dim-bulb on the mains input to limit the

Re: 464 parts
I would say that the most important ones are those mounted on the attenuator covers. You just *might*, if you are handy with a pair of tin-snips using a good one as a pattern, be able to fashion a

Re: 464 parts
I think you are probably referring to the three springy metal things that are mounted as follows: One pretty much in the centre of the pre-amplifier board Two mounted on the lids of the attenuators.

Re: 2467 restoration: Battery, cleaning
Take the A5 board out of the scope, and set it on an insulating surface... a wooden work bench is fine. Ordinary, grounded, soldering and desoldering equipment is recommended. The data is saved by
