OT: White LED strobe project
I will be uploading some pictures of a wood router bit running no-load at about 25,200 RPM, directly sampled at full speed - 420 Hz, with 12 usec strobe width. I have a 7904 setup on it now, with

Ah, bummer- Yahoo's NEO crap still does not like me, and I do not like it either. My photos disappeared as it seems. I have uploaded a few to

Christian Weagle's website on 5000-series oscilloscope down....
Good Day to the group, Hello Christian Weagle, I hope you are doing well. As you are probably aware, I am somewhat a fan of Tektronix' 5000/5400-series oscilloscopes - same as you. I have always

Tektronix 5440 serial number B110764 - she is alive!
Good Day, Dear fellow Tektronix enthusiasts, I am happy and proud to report that another Tek 5440 oscilloscope is back into regular operation again. This is a 19"-rackmount version, produced in

Re: Tek 465B woes
Great I'll try that tonight. Thanks for the tip. I'll also check voltages on the other test points and check the wires to the deflection plates and check the wires and clips to the CRT. I'll report

Re: Tek 465B woes
Yes simply set both channels to GND and defocus the spot. That way you won't burn-in the screen. Albert ---In TekScopes@..., <kcrossett@...> wrote : Ah. I think I understand. Do I

Re: Tek 465B woes
Ah. I think I understand. Do I need to inject a signal, say from a small signal generator that outputs a dirty square wave, or can I do it simply by turning on the scope, defocusing the spot and

Re: Tek 465B woes
Hi Kevin, In XY mode a vertical signal is not really needed but it looks nicer. Simply defocus the spot and set it to a convenient brightness. The idea is that you can watch DC voltages now with your

Re: Tek 465B woes
Hi Kevin, There are some easy checks you could do before taking things apart. locate r4242 and r4343 in the middle of the horizontal bd on the bottom of the scope. they are right next to a hole that

Re: PSU booster modification
Ok, thanks for your respond David. I live in Europe, therefore 220VAC is one way. My concern was mainly if its correct. Panos.

Re: Tek 465B woes
The video where Kevin slowly adjusts the horizontal position is quite informative I'd say. It's visible at the very top in the web version of the thread or here: Tektronix 465B problem

Re: Tek 465B woes
Hi Bert. I was referring to the issue I emailed about a few days ago, and was asked to expand upon. I created a folder in the files section called TEK 465B woes that contains some images and a small

Re: Tek 465B woes
Please expand on this: (1) gap on the left side, (2) gap on the right (3) gap on both sides. Have you tried the XY diagonal line test? FWIW I once got a super deal on a Tek scope where the only fault

Re: Tek 465B woes
Hi Albert. Appreciate the advice. I have checked the XY mode, but only with no signal. The dot near the middle does move slightly, but only about a half-an-inch or so. I don't have any way locally to

Re: Tek 465B woes
Hi Kevin, Before desoldering anything I would first try to narrow down the possible faults. Did you try XY mode already? This mode comes in very handy since you must do with a DMM. To avoid a bright

Re: PSU booster modification
This will work if the power supply only operates on 240 volts AC. Using 120 volts AC requires both capacitors which operate as a voltage doubler.
