Re: Which probe is better suited for 2465B?
My experience assembling a set of P6131s for my 2465DMS may be illustrative: I was able to put together 4 good probes, along with some spare parts, from eBay purchases of several lots of random

Re: Which probe is better suited for 2465B?
I have lots of high-end Tek passive (and active) probes, including P6137, -38, and -39A/B. Very nice but not without competition. Have a look at Picotech's P2056 as an example. Measuring them (@25 Ohm

Re: 7104 out of focus/astigmatism
Following your advices i double checked everything, replacing resistors out of spec and checking carefully capacitors, transistors and IC's with no improvement, after a lot of power on/power off

Re: 465B strange ripple
Hi Barry, In general, you're right of course, it's better to connect the safer/easier connection first although in this case, there's no real difference. Apparently, the "ground" connection is already

Re: Which probe is better suited for 2465B?
I have bought/got 6137/6139 et. al. that look in fine condition; but were not... and for more money. And, so what.

Re: Which probe is better suited for 2465B?
I wouldn't doubt that the 500 MHz ones do not meet that bandwidth... since I believe that the "Chinese" have only economy of scale on the lower bandwidth ( <= 200 MHz), for the large volume of DSOs

Re: 465B strange ripple
It's not a matter of wall outlets having been wired correctly. Systems differ across the pond, you don't know how the socket tester comes to its conclusion when measuring an archaic mains power system

Re: 465B strange ripple
If one suspects a voltage on the "ground" connection, wouldn't it be safer to connect to the water pipe with one probe first and then probe the "ground" point with the other lead? Thanks, Barry -

Re: 465B strange ripple
I'd give priority to the second. You have a portable DMM, don't you? Set it on 250 or 500 VAC, whatever your DMM has. Connect one measurement lead to the point you called "ground" in your measurement

Re: 465B strange ripple
Stephen, No need to endanger yourself just to test if your wall outlets are wired correctly. You can purchase a wall socket tester for under $20 (US) that will tell you if a socket is correctly wired.

Re: Which probe is better suited for 2465B?
Well not trying to be rude... but the OP asked, "...Is getting a couple of P6137 the right ones to be used as a general purpose probes?" One may refer to his post, #179258, at the beginning of this

Bonjour Sr Guiseppe, re the EPAY listing the photos of that epay lot in the photo album, show dirty cables and one inner housing tip seems a clone replacement. Not good signs. Trusting and returning

Found bags of new 475,475A and 2213/2215 Vertical knobs
These just keep turning up in places I didn't expect, so they are now added to the stuff day page here: https://www.sphere.bc.ca/test/stuffday.html#tekfans I was also able to identify 465B and 2205

All my DMM measure voltage between both pins to ground... 233V/50Hz line voltage. 106V from one pin to ground, and 127V from the other to ground.... Can you measure your "ground" voltage against what

Only a proper safety earth would make things "appropriate", because without it, things are unsafe. An isolation transformer makes things safer. Depending on what the "step-down converter" would be, it
