Re: worst condition Tektronix scope?
Wonderful! Now, we just need a million or so more of them. About twelve years ago, a large local auto dealership had a job fair. Entered apprentices would start at $17.00/hr plus full medical care and

Re: (OT) Where to go for 70s IBM hardware? I'm looking for a terminal.
"Sufficient output capacity" is unlikely. Those would probably need several amperes. Are you sure about the specs? The military aircraft I'm familiar with used 28V DC and 400 Hz 110 VAC 3-phase. I

Re: Delay Time Position Vernier
Remember that a common FG will not be all that accurate in frequency, or have great edge speed. There are types that do, but not so common. The easy way is if you happen to have any kind of digital

He may need three phase. There are inverter control boards on Ebay that shouldn't be too hard to hack for 400 Hz.

Re: Tek Glass Tracing
Since you can see right through everything, it should be easy to check for sure which lines are actually broken open - then you don't have to guess from appearance and do unnecessary repairs. Ohm out

Thank you. I was planning on putting 3V across..but was not sure if there was going to be an/ any other issue(s)...you have solved that question. (I had not studied the schematics yet, that is next,

Re: worst condition Tektronix scope?
There are a few very promising young people who are very interested though. I purchased a Tek 7844 on eBay - it was described as fully working. When I saw where the seller was located, I contacted him

Re: Delay Time Position Vernier
Just thought I'd mention that you don't need to let the lack of a time mark generator hold you back. TMGs are convenient for what they do, but all you really need is a source of accurate enough square

Ren¨¦e, The lithium battery on the display board and the GPIB/RS232/Centronics board provides backup power for the NVRAM on those boards. If the display board battery falls below 2.8 VDC (nominally

A friend brought me the remains of three partially cannibalized 564 scopes once. I built one out of the three corpses. He was a contract broadcast engineer, but he wouldn't touch test equipment that

Re: (OT) Where to go for 70s IBM hardware? I'm looking for a terminal.
Even though way off the off topic topic (parse that), still a fun discussion. I scored a box of 10 real gyros and logic pulled from DC-10s. Cute little rate gyro, etc. Problem is, all that stuff takes
