Re: 515A Trigger Cathode Followers (V410) Questions
I am no expert on tubes but I have to assume that the 515 is designed to power
up the tubes safely. Your descriptions sounds like arcing which could be caused
by debris in the tube, the tube being

Take a look at JB Weld.
Their advertising says that a farmer repaired the engine block of a tractor with it.

Re: Advice on re-capping a TDS784D CRT board
Hi,
There is considerable opinion in both directions. I still make my decision on a gut hunch. I look for aluminum cap with signs of swelling or leakage. I watch for tantalums that do not have a

The other day I broke part of a blade on a Rotron muffin fan. I tried cementing it with superglue, but it easily broke loose the next day. That afternoon my wife wanted to visit Home Depot to buy

Re: Adding options to TDS scopes
Siggi,
I couldn't imagine that Tek would leave this information so "close to the surface" in the FAS, since some of the options were costly and AFAIK, everyone could purchase the FAS.
Anyway, I *do*

515A Trigger Cathode Followers (V410) Questions
Hello.
I have two questions regarding the Trigger Cathode Followers (V410) in the 515A:
1) I noticed blue "sparks" inside V410 (Trigger Cathode Follower; a 6DJ8 valve) at power on only.

Re: LCR Meter Recommendations Sought
I picked up a slightly older HP 4262a. Sometimes you can find those or
the 4261a in the $100-150 range. That's been a very nice addition to my
bench. Hardly portable, though.

OT: high temperature automotive epoxy
I just discovered last night that the coolant expansion tank in my wife's truck has a crack where it's leaking severely when hot and pressurized - it nearly emptied the tank in a 45 minute drive.

I usually would not change them all without an indication that one or more were
worn but without something better to go on, it may be your best option.

Advice on re-capping a TDS784D CRT board
Hey y'all,
I've just pulled the CRT board from my TDS784D in order to see whether a re-capping will fix the CRT jitter and shearing I'm seeing from time to time. The disassembly was uneventful,

Re: LCR Meter Recommendations Sought
Some Tek DMMs can measure capacitance.
I have one & it works well.
They don't make it any more but you may find one, or a Fluke-equivalent on Ebay.
