Re: 3B3 Time Base Interesting Problem
I've got several 3B3s, all in good working and cosmetic condition. Make me an offer. I always thought the 3B4 was the better timebase plugin. Should I take a better look at the 3B3?

Re: 7A16A high frequency compensation.
A simultaneous failure of all trimmers is highly improbable. Your problem is elsewhere. Possibilities include: Bad connection at input BNC, poor contacts at attenuator socket pins, etc. So, your plan

Analog storage scope howto
I have just become the proud owner of a 7633. Back in the day, I did not get any serious exposure to analog storage scopes, and I have used DSOs for this purpose for many years. Reading the 7633

Re: 7A16A high frequency compensation.
Hi John, All ceramic trimmers have some effect when turned. So, I assume none of them are open. It seems strange to me that after a year of use the plugin suddenly exhibits such behavior. Can a

Re: 7A16A high frequency compensation.
Max, Some plugins of that era had small ceramic trimmers that went open circuit. See if one of the trimmers does not seem to have the effect implied by the calibration procedure. --John Gord

Re: 7A16A high frequency compensation.
Hi all, I reopen this thread because a few days ago suddenly the step response became very bad. I've added a new photo here: /g/TekScopes/photo/262075/3428607 I tried to tweak the

Re: 3B3 Time Base Interesting Problem
I have a 3A1. It's pretty nice. I also have a couple of 2A63's, a 3A74, a 3A9, a 3L5, a Nelson-Ross PSA321, and a Nelson-Ross Model ??. Can't remember the model number. Have a 067-0581-00 calibration

Re: 3B3 Time Base Interesting Problem
The 2B67 is a decent, although basic, timebase. I don't have one, but I do have a 67, which is the predecessor of the 2B67. Just doesn't have single sweep. Until I got the 3B4 restored, that was what

Re: 3B3 Time Base Interesting Problem
I certainly don't have all the 560 series time-bases, but I have a few. As for usefulness, the 3B3 is at the top. Pretty much next is the 3B4. And I can feel your pain Joel. I don't need another 3B3,

Re: 3B3 Time Base Interesting Problem
I would love to have a 3B3. I have been halfway looking for one to jump in my lap, but it hasn't happened yet. All I have for my 561A and R564B Mod 121 for timebases is 2 2B67's.

Re: 3B3 Time Base Interesting Problem
All suggestions a comments are help Joel, and I take them into consideration. When I hook it back up to the scope with the extender, the voltage checks will find the problem, if it is rail related.

Re: 3B3 Time Base Interesting Problem
Okay, so we know the problem is within the 3B3. I'd start by putting your two 3B3s side by side and comparing the wiring of the plugin connector. Start with the 2 wires for the horizontal output. If

Well, I must respectively disagree. My opinion is that the B Sweeps should be superimposed over the top of their respective Time Markers. My reasoning is that I believe that this is calibrating the B

Re: TDS540 repair; drifting vertical position at start-up
Hi Ozan, The 10v on TP901 is solid. Don't see any problems there. The output of U903, the OpAmp, is swinging +/-1.7v and TP911 on U900 is +/-10v, so that also looks to be ok. Since this is turning out

To me, with all the different symptoms that are seemingly unrelated to each other, would seem to point to a power supply rail within the plugin that is either dead or way off spec. Just my opinion, of

Re: How to test a 155-0155-00 or 155-0120-00 from a TEK 455?
#file-notice
Measuring pin voltages is the easiest path. Keep in mind if a voltage is wrong it doesn't automatically mean the IC is bad, voltage could be off because of some external fault too. If you report the
