Re: [dead tek 485] Can i fix it ? (newbie here)
Jose, I think there is another clue in your picture. As Jeff says the vertical bar on the left of the display is the beam spot before the sweep starts, but it is not just a narrow vertical line, it

Re: 2236 Manuals
Tom, No, it most certainly was not. A fully optioned Chevy Caprice Classic cost half as much as 485 around that same time. It's fascinating, however, that the 2465, which has many of the same

Re: 2236 Manuals
That's quite a leap from the 2235 to the 2236. Yeah, I think it'd be a fair guess as to why the 2235 is literally available by the pallet on eBay today, and the 2236 not so much. Any chance of taking

Re: I built a TM500 mainframe tester, and updated the design. Someone might find this useful?
I have just confirmed operation on my TM5006. As Ed mentions, during the voltage tests, the measured voltages are lower than the TM500 mainframe values in the tables in the manual. The transistor

Re: 2236 Manuals
Thanks for looking up the prices and putting all the data in one easy-to-find place, Jeff. It¡¯s fun to see, for example, that the 485 cost the equivalent of $20k today. It was evidently not

From the 1984 Tek catalog, the portable oscilloscope selection, for everything with more than 50 MHz bandwidth, was (ordered by price): $1,200: 2213, 60 MHz, 2 channel $1,450: 2215, 60 MHz, 2

Re: 2236 Manuals
I managed to find a printed copy of this manual. I was surprised at its size - it is at least two inches thick. It is thicker than the service manual for the 7L5 spectrum analyzer. The 2336 brochure

Re: 2236 Manuals
I suspect it's a combination of price, market demand, and the shift away from customer serviceability. Was it markedly more expensive for features that most buyers didn't have a lot of utility for?

Re: 2235 Horizontal Calibration Issue
VR764 zener is spec¡¯ed at 12.6V +/-5%, with its variation +5.135V at cathode of VR764 is not out of range. Beam find diodes are still reverse biased with some margin. You may want to double check

I don't understand why the service manual for this particular scope is so hard to find, when the service manuals for older scopes are relatively common. This was not a particularly expensive scope for

Re: I built a TM500 mainframe tester, and updated the design. Someone might find this useful?
Bruce, regarding your question about compatibility of this tester with TM5000 mainframes, I believe it should work. As I recall, the TM5000 mainframes can run TM500 plug-ins, but the reverse does not
