Re: Tek Probe Question
Dennis, I've not gone through that particular Tek XYZ book. I guess I should. Thanks for that as well. Thanks for reminding me of that. Duh. It seems I've misplaced some of my analog knowledge.

Re: Tek Probe Question
Folks, Thanks for the information. Without going through the TDS 'scopes' specs, I was a little confused, but you've cleared that up. I've also done what I should have done in the first place, which

Re: Tek Probe Question
Dave, The key word is "USEFUL". The simple answer is that depends on what you mean by useful which, in turn, depends on what you intend to measure with your probe and scope. To find the overall

Re: Tek Probe Question
Dave, Basically there is no frequency dependency of a probe.? It will divide the input signal according to the resistors in it and the input impedance of the load. Having said that, and for the

Daves, The TDS3012 is a 100MHz scope. The P6139A works fine with the TDS305x, which is a 500 MHz scope and uses the same hardware (bandwidth limit is in the firmware). Dave Casey Quoting Dave Daniel

Re: Tek Probe Question
Dave, If I recall correctly, the 485 has a bandwidth of 250 MHz in 1M ohm mode (350MHz in 50 ohm mode), so the P6139A might provide 250Mhz response. However, the high frequency (over 100 MHz or so)

Re: Tek Probe Question
Dave, Thanks. That still doesn't answer my question. Why the differing BW specs for different 'scopes? Is it the 'scope or the probe or the combination? Cheers, Dave

Re: Tek Probe Question
The probes you want for the 50 ohm input amplifiers are P6056 (10x) and P6057 (100x) or P6156(10x or 100x versions). Dave

Re: Tek Probe Question
John, I understand that. Thanks. But does impedance mismatch explain the P6139A spec sheet? If I use the P6139A with an analog scope (say, a 485), will I see a BW of 100 MHz or 500 MHZ (limited to a
