Re: Transformation TR503 into TR502
Hi Ed, sorry if I wrote an inaccuracy, the 10 pF capacitor is not between the junction point of the crystal with the varicap diode and ground, but on the other terminal of the crystal towards ground.

Re: Sampling head extender missing coax connectors
Weird, I just mailed a part to Massachusetts and it got there in two days.

Re: Bad Focus on CRT
Thanks. Supply rails are (now) good after replacing quite a few capacitors that weren't doing much (after tracing a few bad ones I ended up doing all electrolytics on the low & high voltage psu boards

Re: [Tek 485] No intensity control
Could you confirm intensity on the screen is not changing as well in XY mode? On 485 in X-Y mode, intensity does change the intensity as expected. It could be a logic fault on sheet <12> but it could

Re: PG506 vs. PG506A risetime?
Dennis, Sorry for the late reply, it's been a busy week. Imagine my surprise to see a response from John Addis. Thank you for forwarding my question to him. I had the privilege of meeting John a

Re: Which probe is better suited for 2465B?
I don't know the quality of P6500 but general view is no-name cheap high bandwidth probes do not have the clean transient response of probes from well known manufacturers. First the compensation

Re: WTB: Tek 576 and P6015A
Hi Sean, I didn't mean to ruffle your feathers. I am sorry for that. I left a paragraph out that would have tied the shuttle, automobiles, and our probes together... And included one that was

Re: P6021 Noise Problem?
To no one in particular. I have found it useful to cover the under side of my work bench with aluminum foil connected to a binding post convenient to the front of my scope. Jumper cable to scope

Re: 3T77 tunnel diodes (again)
I also found (in the 3S2 manual) one line that says, "The TRIG OUT signal is not useful for externally triggering a real-time time-base unit". Hmm. But it does not explain *why*. It certainly seems to

Re: Sampling head extender missing coax connectors
Not yet :( As I mentioned in the 3T77A thread, mail from Canada to the US is even slower than usual these days. Still waiting on the hybrid for my S-4 head that Walter sent, too.

Did the connectors ever show up?

So what? Environmentalism wasn't my main point (and if you must know, I just try to be as good a steward as I can in what I can. I am not putting a gun to anyone's head saying that they have to do

Re: 3T77 tunnel diodes (again)
I took the S-1 sampling head apart again and discovered one reason it didn't work was that I'd gotten one of the 2N5769 B-E diodes backwards. Turned it around, still very noisy with no input. Decided

Environmentalism is wonderful, but you have to look at it from a reasonable perspective. Back in the days when 114 was used commonly, NASA was using hundreds of thousands of gallons to wash out the

Re: Bad Focus on CRT
I wouldn't condemn the CRT just yet. Focus to a spot depends on a lot of things, and one is that the spot isn't being deflected by other things. The first place you should always start is the ripple
