Re: OT: European clocks slowed by lag in continent's power grid
The 60Hz used to be recycled to 20Hz for mining and railroads, but they weren't very reliable.

Re: OT: European clocks slowed by lag in continent's power grid
Making an observation causes the state to be known weather direct or indirect. If the cat meows in response to the container being shaken it is equivalent to opening the box. As soon as an observation

Re: OT: European clocks slowed by lag in continent's power grid
Possible, but opening the container makes Shroedinger's cat assume a known state, whichever it is, from which it may not recover (poor cat...) However, if you shake the container and you hear it meow,

Does not quantum superposition make it possible that they exist in all states until the cylindrical containers are opened - to let the cat out of the bag as it were?

Re: OT: European clocks slowed by lag in continent's power grid
You're forgetting entropy. Electrons start out at 400 Hz electrons which are relatively rare, and thus used for aircraft. They appear to be lighter as well. Once used enough, they decay through heat

Re: OT: European clocks slowed by lag in continent's power grid
It's time for them to buy new electrons. They've used those old, recycled 60Hz electrons for so long that they can't even do 50Hz anymore! ;-)

Re: 7ct1n curve tracer
Hi Cliff, Thank you for the information about C30 and C32 getting upgraded to 63 volt parts in 1985! Rick posted that I listed the capacitors using R numbers in my original question, Ouch! Getting old
By tom jobe <tomjobe@...> · #145475 ·
Re: 7ct1n curve tracer
The R numbers are resistors rather than capacitors. Check google for pictures of tantalum capacitors vs electrolytic capacitors. You'll see that tants have a very distinctive look. Rick

My 2465 has just done the same thing, lost horizontal and the 87 volt rail is sitting at 45 volts, lifted the supply to the U800 and still 45 volts. There is a diode connected from the 87 volt rail to

Re: 7ct1n curve tracer
Tek approved the change to 63V caps for C30 and C32 in May 1985 and apparently put it into production somewhere before SN B054560. The new caps are axial lead electrolytic and the old ones were also,

Re: Wanted: Tek 503
The 503 was a rather unique low freq tube scope with 2 identical input amps in addition to the time base. I got one in 1972 and used it occasionally until 2008. Unfortunately, I couldn't give it away
