Re: cowl-spinner

Mine varies from 1/8 on the top half to slightly more on the bottom. I have a baffle behind the spinner, attached to the cowl halves, that seals the entire area. Baffle seal material contacts the prop extension. I believe that is a very important but mostly overlooked issue.?

IIRC, much more than a 1/4" starts adding a bunch of drag.?

Dan,
I think 3/16" is enough.? ?One thing to consider during fitting is that depending on how far your spinner overlaps the back plate,? you might be able to sand off a little (on the spinner cone or maybe even the backplate) and get more clearance if it is too close.? I set mine up with just a very little overhang of the cone over the rear on the backplate.? Just need to make sure you don't sand off too close to the screw holes if you have to do that.? ? I know that some people can get closer than 3/16".? ?I will have to measure mine and see how far it clears.??
