Thanks Matt for the steer to your builders log. Great help! Question, is your fuselage from VR3? It looks exactly like mine.

Hi Terry,?

I¡¯ve attached a few pictures to help visualize. ? Just went thru this a year ago. ?I mocked up a temporary elevator horn first to figure out the geometry. ?I had three interference points.? ?First interference point was the lower fuse diagonal behind the aft end of the control push-rod. ?Had to remake the elevator swivel to provide clearance (raised up fwd end of elevator pushrod). ?Second was the upper fuse diagonal between station 144 and 163. ?The diagonal had to be angled such that the aft end terminated approximately 1/2 inch forward of station 163. ?Third interference point was the h-stab spar. ?If your elevator horn is 90 deg to pushrod when the elevator is neutral, this should help eliminate that interference. ?Everything changes when you change the incidence angle of the h-stab. ?Have to play with it. ?

Another thing I did to help provide clearance was to reduce the end of the elevator pushrod from 3/4 to 5/8. ?Pushrod is spliced a few inches forward of h-stab. ?

Also, for the length of the elevator horn, I used 3.75 instead of 3.875 to give more angular throw of the elevator. ?

I have more pictures on the EAA builders log site if you want to check those out. ?

Hope that helps a little. ?

Help! I don¡¯t understand how to pushrod has any room to operate as it passes thru all the tubes . There seems to be little room between the horizontal spar and the tube angling across the bay forward .? My drawing show a 3.875 demension on the elevator bell crank. What am I missing? Thanks for any insight.
