Re: A few questions:
Re 1-
You should plan for the Marathon without regard for the land trust session. We¡¯ll be fine. Clear skies is everything. You¡¯ll be miserable if you move it to the 26th but only the 25th is clear. Non-marathoners will carry the water 4/25, even if it¡¯s just me.?
and anyone who wants to set up here on the 25th with the intention of pulling an all nighter is welcome to do so. No one will get chased out. But at a minimum the first 5 or so objects will be obscured at dusk and I don¡¯t think M30 could be caught before dawn. I haven¡¯t inventoried what might be below Polaris either.?
You have my urging to do what is best for the Marathoners.?

A few questions:
I attended the SAS meeting last night and have the following questions:
?
1. It was discussed that the Messier Marathon alternate date was Friday - 4/25. That is the same night as the Lyme Land Trust Observing event. Do we want to move the date to the 26th?
?
2. Who has the PST Solar Scope? SAS has an event on Sat 4/26 and I thought I would bring it (not that I want to be the holder of all of the club's scopes ;) )
?
3. On Sat 5/17 the SAS club, in cooperation with the Town of Madison is doing a public outreach event at in Madison. It would be great if the club could assist by bringing scopes to this inaugural event.

Re: NEAF?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýYes, Leslie!? Always a pleasure to see you :)? ? Shiny new toys?? ? I had my eye (pun intended)? on a 22 mm Ethos eyepiece and an adjustable coma corrector from Nagler.? ?At almost half? price? they were hard to resist.? But, with cash only required,? my ATM card did not work there! ? ? ? ?There was also a 16" truss tube scope from Explore Scientific that interested me.? More portable and a larger mirror than my aging Odyssey.? ? ? ? ? ?In hindsight, since I am a strictly visual observer, and my travel schedule is allowing me so few opportunities to observe, its probably best I didnt drop big money on those items.? ? Huge sigh.? ? ? ? ? ? ?My son and I had a great time tho.? ?We attended two seminars. One on the search for life on other planets and one on the Apollo and Artemis space programs.? We both especially enjoyed the former.?? ? ? ? ? How NEAF has changed since I first attended many years ago.? ?Sooo many options for Astrophotography now...?? ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýJerry, Alan and I went yesterday. We ran into Leslie at the Skywatcher booth. Got a chance to meet some of my favorite You Tubers and still managed not to spend any money. We heard that John had an open wallet, so can¡¯t wait to hear what he got :)

Sounds like I missed some fun. But it¡¯s been so long since I¡¯ve enjoyed some star time, I couldn¡¯t get enthused about going.?

AP had 2 new refractors and a new mount to drool over, the Stellafane booth was hopping, and ZWO was simply packed. There was an interesting travel dob caught my eye with a clever magnetic secondary holder.? I kept count and heard the dreaded T word said 16x out loud. Saw lots of friends and couldn¡¯t resist picking up a baby SeeStar to carry back to Fiji later this week.? Missed you guys there! Jay |

Thank you, Gerry!? When I started processing the image, Alnitak had a little bit of a halo. I didn't try calculating the distance to whichever glass surface was causing the reflection resulting in the halo, I just worked on reducing it in the image trying every trick in Photoshop that I knew.? It's not perfect, but I think it's ok.? Just like composing and recording a song or writing an article, book, or whatever, at some point, these artistic products are never finished, they're just finally abandoned - that's what we call "finished" - that amuses me.
?
The number of challenges one can experience in this hobby are truly amazing (and sometimes frustrating).? There's al;ways something else to learn, and I'm not always so lucky in finding a solution to them.? I'm glad the stars appear to have turned out satisfactorily.
?
Yes, the weather.? Were you able to get some images on which you're working that we may later see?
