No, please... windows are not optical glass and suede is way too abrasive.? So think how soft that is.... we don't use paper towels to rub optics. It's for blotting biological materials after letting

Re: Help needed to remove primary and secondary from the CC observatory 20inch RC
I talked with my son Jeremy, the pro detailer, and he said he uses suede cloths to ensure no lint. I know he must make sure the car¡¯s paint and/or windows must be absolutely clean of all dust, dirt

Re: Connecticut College optical set
Oops, silly me, this is a Ritchey-Chretien isn¡¯t it. Probably not suited to portable/visual astronomy. I do seem to remember looking thru an eyepiece years ago at Conn, and we run a 10¡± RC

Jay: I¡¯ve been riffing about the optics with Leslie, Mark and anyone else who would listen for a few months now. I thought if TAAS ever had an observatory, we¡¯d already have the optics for a nice

Jeremy does service all sorts of cars and pickups, especially this time of year when the roads are harsh on paints. He¡¯s a true gear head that loves what he does and will usually work with anyone. I

I¡¯m curious about the future plans for these amazing optics. I remember Leslie¡¯s email string about finding them a home but I don¡¯t recall the outcome. Leslie, how do you and Alex envision

This is so cool, Bob, and thank you and Jeremy for the kind offer! As George mentioned, optics (especially a set of this quality) are on another level. Does he do minivans? Hope to meet you under a

Re: Help needed to remove primary and secondary from the CC observatory 20inch RC
That¡¯s cool, George, totally understood. Let Jay know though, that Jeremy¡¯s garage can be thought of as a HUGE sink (floor drain) with a supply of running hot and cold water. The power washer

Bob: Firstly, thanks very much to you and your son for offering your assistance. I¡¯ll let Jay have the final say on this, but the cleaning of the optics is a delicate and precise procedure and Jay

Hi guys. I¡¯m new to the group and astronomy in general. Haven¡¯t had a chance to partake in any endeavors yet. Hope to soon. However, my son owns a car detailing shop in Old Saybrook, right on Rt.
