I am planning to hold a night sky viewing session at Nathan Hale Ray High School in East Haddam sometime in May, date TBD. Astronomy/physics class students will attend with their teacher, and possibly some parents. It is a great opportunity to introduce these students to the amateur astronomy hobby. Some will be heading off to college shortly and it is a great opportunity to spark an interest in the subject. I would like to keep this event small - just the students and several of us with telescopes (no attendees from the general public), so I don't plan to advertise this beyond the school. I will be doing livestacking, but ideally there will be a few different kinds of scopes/set-ups there to provide a good learning opportunity, including maybe a dob, night vision goggles (Mark?), smart telescopes/other livestacking set-ups and others. Just giving you an early heads up at this point if you might be interested. I am going to wait until the last minute to schedule this (maybe two days in advance) to be more sure of getting a clear night, so if you are interested stay tuned... more details to follow.
