Re: January TAAS Monthly Meeting Minutes

Mark, so quickly and concise. I have no corrections.
One question though - where do they take place and what are the Hammonsett /ASNH dates??

If they're only maintained on the ASNH NSN Calendar and not on the Groups.io calendar,? can you please include a link to them in the minutes?

Thank you!

John

Ten intrepid TAAS members left their cold observing locations to stay inside and join the monthly TAAS Zoom meeting.
Leslie brought us up to date on the status of the Conn College observatory.? Astrometrics Instruments completed the dome automation upgrades last month.? The existing 20 inch RC telescope will need removal before the Planewave 14 inch CDK arrives in March.? Conn College was hoping to sell the old instrument, but its value on the used research telescope market appears to be very small.? Once approved by the school, TAAS hopes to rescue the mirror, cell, and secondary so the mount and steel tube can be scrapped. George has agreed to store the mirrors until a home can be found.
Leslie described details of the various Planewave purchase options and TAAS members discussed the positives and negatives of the Planewave FIeld Rotator.
Leslie is planning a TAAS mirror removal party during the next few weeks.
Deb indicated the Night Sky Network has been updated with the previous and planned TAAS outreach events.? The NSN provided TAAS with several packets of outreach materials which we use and Leslie indicatred she could use some of this material for her upcoming 3rd grade Stars to Stem programs.
John Sillasen showed his new rechargeable battery set up for the AZGTi mount. C lub members suggested some options for mounting of the battery and cable management.
John also mentioned this week's interstate astronomy club sharing events.? John (from ASGH) gave a talk to the Southern Vermont Astronomy group on cold weather? observing.? The following day, Eric Schmidt from SoVerA spoke to ASGH on citizen science participation on exoplanet research.
Leslie described the ongoing efforts at the E. Lyme High School planetarium, including efforts to safely incorporate night time access to an observing area.
George gave a brief treasurers report.? There are 16 paid members, and $4647.10 in the treasury.
Time to get George those dues checks everybody.
