Re: CSC Changes

Ah, just clicked on Propbusters, and now see the ¡°ECMWF Cloud¡± line on CSC.

Back to Avery Pt (nearest to home), and I still only see the older display, even after I refreshed. Maybe they think Propbusters is closer to Europe than the SE CT shore. :-)

Strange. I still only see the usual 3 forecast lines on CSC, clouds, transparency and seeing, with the wind and temperature predictions below. Am I missing something?

Like John, I also check Astrospheric since they claim to update more often.

Unfortunately, they both always seem to agree that the clear nights occur at or around full Moon. Also, when they disagree, it¡¯s usually for the worse. :-(

Couple of weeks back they both predicted clear skies after about 6 pm. Unfortunately, the clouds did not clear until after 10 pm, when my target for the night, Caroline¡¯s Rose, was already nearly out of the sliver of sky observable from my back yard. Fortunately, I was able to get some images a day or two later.

I agree George; NE observing conditions can be very frustrating!

For those of us using the CSC for viewing conditions, you may have noticed a change in the number of forecast lines. The second cloud cover line is based on the European model and varies somewhat from the classic forecast. It makes it look like there are better conditions than there are since there are potentially more dark blue lines, but alas, we still live in New England where observing conditions are often challenging.
