Good to hear about epiphanes enamel. We are planning on redoing topsides in the spring. Heard it is patchable - any experience with that?

On FG I generally use a 1 part PU just because it's more forgiving to roll and tip than 2 part LPU yet gives good durability. Not awl grip but..the finish quality is totally a result of excellent surface prep and application technique...a guy here just did an amazing 1 part job with a bristle brush....I am confident about petit and interlux but have a preference for epifanes. Their multi marine primer makes a great tie coat between systems. On alum spars, I use a 2 part primer, 3 coats and top with one part PU.

Recently I used Topsides primer and paint by Rustoleum. It's a one-part primer/paint. I used it to finish new floorboards for our inflatable dinghy. I was very pleased with the ease of use and the finish that resulted. At about $13 a quart, the price is unbeatable.?

Re: Trailer for my T27?

Thanks Brent (and Glenn),

Joe Boat has been recommended to me, and your experience confirms his good reputation. I will consider him, but when asked last fall, my recollection was with his delivery, with a local yard's haul and launch, the round trip cost was somewhere in the vicinity of $1000 more than the price Noank Marine Services gave me for their hauling, winter storage and launching. That's why, if the right trailer happens to be out there, I want to consider that option. I don't really expect to find what I'm hoping for, but I just have to ask in case. I just figured you guys might have noticed if there was something languishing in the back row of a boatyard somewhere that would be suitable to carry one of our beloved T27's.

Thanks again,
Alan

Both companies were awesome with setting down and picking up in a relatively tight driveway space next to the garage.

One caveat for both of these options: they don't let their trailers touch the water, so you have to have a shipyard take your boat and the mast out beforehand (and either temporarily set you on stands, or coordinate the shipyard and trailer for the same date and time on both ends).

I concur. Beckson still does sell the same ports. According to the salesman at Beckson, they supplied them. But double check the size; we replaced all 6 not long ago and the size we had was not what they said we should of had. Ours are 5 x 12.

Beckson made the windows for the T27-2. As of a few years ago they still stocked the parts.

Scott just discovered that the mounting footprint for the Barient 22 winch is the same for the 21 and the 19 so that opens up the possibilities for getting a replacement.

We also have lost and are in need of repairing the side window screens and are looking for the manufacturer of those windows.

Thanks,
Steve?

Re: Scupper replacement

Big is good. I ?am also planing to up grade the scuppers as part of a deck recore. My scuppers plug badly. I am looking at the geometry of routing them out th transom. Fewer holes below the waterline. Or possibly through the hull below the transom but still above the static water line.?
Years ago I skippered a Deerfoot. Her scuppers were 2 inch pvc pipe glassed in. Instead of a grate or strainer at the deck they ran two stainless rods at right angles like cross hairs through the pipe. They had tested this and found anything that got past the cross hairs would flush all the way out.?
I do not like the original way the scuppers are tied together.?
Some of the boats have the bilge pump tied into the scuppers. Also a bad idea.?

I see model 23, 21, 19, etc on eBay, but no 22. Maybe they're visually
similar enough to be acceptable for the level of aesthetic you're going
for, and comparably functional?

In case no one has one, obviously.

Hmm, maybe I should carry a spare winch too...

Can't speak to clubbiness of the list, but looks like a great Tartan!

Re: Crack in keel

Greetings,

I looked at the picture of the crack. It is definitely the bolt on keel joint. I have owned hull #4 for decades. I'm certain of what I'm looking at. In 1966?Douglass & McLeod went to encapsulated ballast and added 350 lbs. The owner stated that he does not know the hull number but claims his 27 to be a 1967. ?It can not be as it clearly has a bolted on keel. Simply pull the bilge boards and look for bolts with nuts.?

Here is a picture of the crack. The lighting was not good so it's a tad sketchy.
