Re: Centerboard Needed

When we raced #328 there were races that we barely used the centerboard and did quite well, even winning a few.?
You will make a bit more leeway when tacking upwind without the board and I'd want the board for winds 20 knots and up.

There was/is a member on this list that had taken a T27 hull or two and was salvaging the parts for them.? Perhaps he has a used centerboard??

Keep looking for the board you lost.

My best,
Caleb D.

Hi folks -?
Thanks for your responses.? In answer to some questions/comments here:?

I ran aground when trying to sail out of the channel when my engine started overheating. Got towed out by BoatUS.?

Didn't realize until later that my CB was gone. The pennant was broken and the pin snapped.?

The grounding was in just a few feet of water (obviously) and I've walked the area at low tide trying to find it with no luck. Of course this is the Chesapeake and not the Caribbean, so there's zero viz.? If we get a big Noreaster at low tide, maybe I'll be able to see it.? We had a storm like that last year and my boat was actually sitting on it's keel!?

I was also wondering if there are any boats that would have a fish finder that also draw 2 feet or less.... maybe that would help.?

The price on the Tartan website for one of these is $2300. My insurance is sending me a check, but if I'd love to find one cheaper....?

Thanks
Dennis?
