Capt Warren,Thanks for reply.To tell a long story short,I found a brand new old stock hatch in the box.The price stamped on the box $37.10 and thats all the guy charged plus shipping which was more than the part.He claims to have about 100 new old stock parts for the 27's as he was once a Tartan dealer and this is stock that Tartan didn't want back when he closed his dealership.( he's going to make alist of what he has)He does have 1 replacement rudder and center board but he knows what they are worth and?has them priced at market value.I have been looking?into buying a Pearson Countess to buy and live on we will see how it turns out.Theres a bunch of legal matters tied to the boat.Did you know where I?grew up at?A neat place to visit when cruising the bay.Well I thank you again for your kindness.Sidney?

Capt. Sidney, I've found my old hatch, and as expected, the fiberglass is in pretty good, not fantastic, condition, but the translucent part is shot---crazed, scratched, and actually broken.?? The good news is, that part is fastened in, and I presume quite replaceable.?? Would it be of any help to you?

Your venture sounds terrific from a refurber's standpoint, but I wonder if it isn't a little like the wine business:? How do you make a small fortune in the wine business??? Start with a large one.??? The concern is, that the cost of such refurb/resto- mods may bring the price a good deal higher than the (BUC) market will bear.?? I certainly know that all the labors I've performed, if compensated, would push the price of my boat way out of whack for a Tartan 27, if not out of reach. ?? That said, I absolutely love the idea. ? Warren,I lived right across the creek from the yacht club(when I was with my father)on Stutts Creek and that was Mathews and my mothers place was in Redart on Stutts Creek (which I still own it has a small marina and shop with the house that is for sale) right inside the Hole in the wall.Actully my boat is from Mobil Al.and I will be sailing it back to Savannah.I am retired at an early age and am trying to have some good clean fun.(boats keep me out of trouble ha,ha)If you look at the for sale section at tartan the black 27 with the diesel motor thats listed for $5,000.00 is the boat I bought.If you have a number where you could be reached I would be glad to give you a shout, as I am still looking for some more 27's.This boat is going to end up being a show piece sort of as I am going start a business that takes these boats and kind of resto-mod them in keeping the classic design with todays techs.for resale to the public.Right now Tartan has 6 boats that they will give me,I just have to come get(have truck an trailor? and will ride) thats been given to them hoping Tartan would restore them but they have no interst in it but are willing to help me with the up-start?so I am going to take a stab at it.Again thanks and let me know. Hi Sidney----Well, I'm sorry to see another Tartan depart the Chesapeake; but home's where you drop your anchor, I suppose.?? I know for sure there's no vent cut into my hatch, but I'd be pretty sure it's scratched/crazed, probably original.?? I don't think there's much if anything wrong with the fiberglass; and perhaps the plexiglas is replaceable? ? I didn't waste much time on it because I knew I wasn't going to use it anyway.?? I think the hinges are still attached, too.??? Anyway, I'll check it and drop you a line over the weekend.??? BTW, Waterford is landlocked, in very Northern Virginia, in Loudoun County.?? Ha Capt. Warren,yes I am looking for a forward hatch.I have just bought my boat(haven't brought to my home port yet)off the Tartans owners web site.Boat has one now but has had a solar vent installed?in it and the clear section has cracked?bad and leaks.And with having 800 miles of sailing to bring her home I would like to have it alittle more secured hatch or it could get nasty.Waterford Va sounds familiar as I am from Mathews Va but now live outside Savannah Ga.Tartan can build me a teak one for $800.00 but when you spend $4,500.00 for the whole boat with a diesel something just doesn't work there.Anyway thanks if you have one and it's not in bad shape let me know and we can work something out if you like.(whats funny is I can find new ones for pearsons,odays, catalinas, hunters and they are only $200.00)go figure.Oh the guy that with Tartan is also from

If you're talking about the forward hatch, and not the companionway hatch, I might be able to help you.?? I removed mine in favor of a Lewmar hatch, and I'm pretty sure I've still got it lying around somewhere.?? they are not avalible through Tartan only custom made teak hatches
which are very pricey.Does any-one know of any-one making these as
