Its was a beautiful day for sailing here in Columbus, Ohio.. about a 10 mph wind.. slightly stronger gusts.. so.. we hook up the trailer and head over to the nearby lake.
We are fully ready for the colder temps (water was low 50's, air was near 60).
My fiance is new to sailing and immediately after launch decides its a little too windy for her.. but the wind was coming directly from the shore, so she starts tacking her way back in... a big gust gets her by surprise and like any sunfish.. flip!. Its her first time trying to right her boat.. so.. I sailed up and dropped the sail and talked her through it. About 5 minutes into it.. we see the ranger boat barreling down on. I think.. Oh great! They can help her out and we can get back on with our day. We look on the shore (where we had some friends with a kayak).. and there is 1 fire truck with rescue boat and diver, 1 ambulence, 2 emergency cruisers, then we look up above. .and.. yep.. the helicopter circling over us...
Oh.. and now.. its on the NBC news channel. (they have called us twice tonight trying to let us authorize her name). If they decide to post it online.. I'll forward it. Granted.. they have already lied on the broadcast as she was wearing her life jacket,
