Sounds like it's time for you to get it over with! Capsizing, that is. An

85 pound kid can right a Sunfish alone. Adults have no problem. I don't know where you're sailing, but as soon as the water is 60 degrees, get on with it. If you can start close to shore by simply tipping the boat over while you're standing on the bottom (deep enough), push on the tip of the daggerboard to learn the forces involved. Then go out on the water, far enough from shore that you can't stick the mast in the bottom, and tip it over on purpose (wearing a life jacket of course). If you're a smaller adult you might have to pull on the end of the board and put your feet against the hull for leverage, but most adults can just pull on the board and the boat pops up. Kids do it all the time for fun and play ... When I flip I usually get mad, but that's because I'm racing and it lets competitors get by! When I was a kid it was great because it was refreshing on hot days ... You'll get there! Sincerely, Gail ~~~/)~~~~/)~~~/)~~~~~/)~~~~~~/)~~ Gail M. Gail, I'm guessing it's a normal feeling for a rookie, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm terrified of capsizing the boat. I have no doubt in my swimming or water survival skills. I am also familiar with water skiing and righting jet-ski/wave runner type watercraft. It's getting that seemingly HUGE sail out of the water that has me scared I guess. I understand that capsizing is part of the sport and it won't deter me from learning and enjoying sailing. My pal and I plan to have our own mini-regatta as soon as he gets a new (used) sail. I also plan to join a sailing club at a local marina. They seem to be a Laser and Hobie Cat group so I suspect they will be curious about the Super 'Fish and want to test it against their boats as well. I hope to gain some crew time in return. I'll post the results to this group. Thanks again for the valuable information, support, and advice! Shawn __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Win a $20,000 Career Makeover at Yahoo!
